Brrrn - Slide
Brrrn’s Slide is a low intensity core and cardio workout set in a 50-degree studio and is comprised of various exercises on a slide board.
Fitness clothes, long sleeves, + sneakers.
Booties (rent for $2). The booties go over your sneakers after the warm-up (think hospital shoe coverings you’d see in the operating room).
Before the class starts in the lobby, the instructor explains what to expect.
Head to your reserved slide board. Each slide board is about four feet long and has a very slippery surface.
Class: (i) warm up w/o booties (think squats, lunges, and arm movements), (ii) with booties and the board, think side lunges and back lunges with one foot on the slide board, and the infamous back-and-forth slide, (iii) core moves, think planks, mountain climbers, and pikes, including exercises using sandbells, (iv) mix sections (ii) and (iii), think lunges, squats, and squat thrusts while holding the sandbell, (v) slides (yay!), (vi) two min cool down.
Challenging, unique, but not too difficult.
Slower paced than I expected, but you’ll engage muscles you don’t usually engage (like the inner thighs).
It’s chilly and you don’t truly sweat, so it’s hard to tell how intense the class was.
The sliding exercises felt a lot like using gliders, so you’ll activate those similar muscles.
Sweat Level: 💧💧
First Timers: $28 buy one class, get one free.
Returners: $28 per class.
Brrrn offers various memberships and packages to reduce the per class price.
Great vibe and branding, think neon signs, branded gear, and great design. Ski chalet feel.
The left and right side of the studio are referred to as the north and south poles.
The flow of the Slide class is a little clunky, and the class wasn’t too full, but the instructors know what they’re doing and they’re encouraging and positive.
The locker rooms are super clean and contain great products.
Brrrn uses a special type of shower to reduce water waste, and it’s really refreshing.
Also offers infrared sauna.
It’s not as cold as you think. You’ll take off your long sleeve within ten mins.
The slide board feels like using gliders.
The slide move is similar to ice skating or rollerblading (which I die for).
If you’re tall, you won’t be able to extend your side lunges bc the slide board is too short. Not much you can do about this, but be warned.
Lockers w automatic locks.
Three showers. Haven’t had to wait as of yet.
