Warrior Fitness Bootcamp
Warrior Fitness Bootcamp is a challenging full body cardio and strength class based on the drills and calisthenics practiced by the Marines set in a lower level, minimal, but spacious gym w/ obstacle courses and all.
Fitness clothes + sneakers.
A bootcamp class based on the physical fitness program of the Marines.
The format is instructor dependent.
Example class: (i) Warm up running around the track and up and down the staircase, jumping jacks, (ii) more jumping jacks, lunges (w/ weighted bars), more runs around the track and through the obstacle course (see below), sandbag push w/ your arms around the track (um, not easy), (iv) ab work (sit ups, like 100 no joke, and other ab work w/ weighted balls), (v) walking up and down the stairs 10 times w/ a weighted sandbag mixed w/ kettle bell swings and push ups, (vi) more running around the track, (vii) done.
Example equipment used: kettlebells, tires, sandbags, weights bars, weighted balls, and WFB has a bunch of other unique equipment to use, like weighted vests.
Obstacle course: monkey bars, walls to jump over, hurdles, and other fun stuff, as well as a rope to climb.
This is a very challenging class. You are testing your cardio endurance as well as your ability to weighted cardio moves.
The class is taught by former Marines, so yeah, this is hard.
Focuses on conditioning via drills.
Very military-esqe. You’ll count down with with the instructor who’s calling out cadences.
Your body will be energized, but exhausted after class.
The class jumps right into class, no explanation about what’s about to come, although the instructor helped me w/ form on the obstacle course and rope climb.
Sweat Level: 💧💧💧💧
First Timers: $60 for three classes.
Returners: $35 per class.
Packages and memberships are available to lower the "per class" price.
Clean, minimal space. No mirrors.
Decorated w/ a lot of Marine and military gear/photos.
Studio, itself, is large and spacious.
No nonsense feel. This class is not for the faint of heart.
The instructor will be calling out cadences and you have to count with him.
Don’t expect a “welcome intro” or an explanation about what to expect.
Lots of regulars. More men than women.
If you’re nervous to jump right in, WFB offers a 30 min Beginner’s Class to go over the basic moves, esp the obstacle course.
Showers, locker rooms, & cubbies or bring your own lock.
Pays to be a woman here - no lines for the showers!
They offer a good selection of products.
