Work Train Fight - All Levels
Work Train Fight’s All Levels Boxing class is a solid cardio + boxing class that incorporates cardio and bodyweight drills + shadowboxing and circuits while wearing boxing gloves.
Fitness clothes, sneakers, wraps, & gloves.
WTF provides complimentary gloves, but bring your own wraps.
55 min class.
Typical class: (i) 30 mins of shadowboxing (boxing w/o gloves) and cardio/bodyweight drills (like jumping jacks, planks, lunges, squat jumps), and (ii) 30 mins of circuits w/ your gloves.
Typical circuits: 9 stations comprised of boxing w/ instructor (instructor wears mitts/pads), wall sits, ab work, push ups, boxing on various types of bags.
No cooldown or stretching section at the end.
Mentally and physically challenging.
Most people were familiar with the numbers assigned to punches and could follow along easily (i.e. 1=jab, 2=cross, 3=front hook, etc). The instructor doesn’t leave a lot of room for “figuring it out”.
The cardio and strength portions of class are doable (nothing too crazy). Since the instructor is always handling one group w/ the mitts/pads, he isn’t able to watch or correct form in any of the other stations.
For a total beginner, this prob is not the class to start with.
Solid amount of actual shadowboxing and boxing here, which is a plus.
Sweat Level: 💧💧💧💧
First Timers: N/A
Returners: $34 per class.
WTF offers packages that reduce the per class price and they also offer monthly unlimited classes.
WTF also offers private training and gym access only.
Large, spacious, and clean gym. The studio has the “old school” boxing vibe w/o being down and dirty.
The space has a boxing ring, studio, actual gym equipment (like weights, treadmills, and more), and other free areas for classes, sparring, boxing.
Lots of regulars here.
Not a helpful front desk. I had to ask about everything (locker room location, towels, boxing gloves, class location).
The instructor started off class weirdly by asking if I have ever boxed anywhere besides Shadowbox (bc I was wearing SBX’s wraps) in a way that was a bit condescending (sort of alluding to the fact that if I hadn’t boxed anywhere else besides Shadowbox, I didn’t know what I was doing). He also asked me if I follow instructions (huh? Just no). He ended up being a great instructor, but weird vibe to start.
You only are allowed one small towel and one big towel. For additional towels, you’ll have to pay .50 cents (for small) or $1 (for large).
WTF is also a gym, so there are people there not only taking classes, but working out on their own.
Complimentary glove rental.
Showers, locker rooms, and lockers, but bring your own locks (not automatic).
I’m torn. I liked the class, but was turned off by the vibes.
